Arctic Foam picks Marty Thomas for Hawai’i

Oceanside, CA – December 2, 2012 – Foam Corps Inc., makers of ARCTIC FOAM, is pleased to announce the addition of surf industry veteran and former ASP competitor Marty Thomas to its sales and marketing team as Manager for the Hawaiian Islands, effective immediately.

Thomas joins Arctic Foam at an exciting and important moment in its growth and development. With the recent introduction of color swirl foam and the Arctic Blast whiteness enhancer, and building on its reputation as the lightest, whitest and strongest foam available, Arctic has become one of the most sought-after polyurethane foam blanks for surfboards in the world in less than 2 years in the market.

Addressing a desire to strengthen its role as a critical supply-chain partner and to work more directly with shapers in the Islands, Arctic Foam looks forward to Thomas taking a leadership role in building on this strong foundation.

Marty Thomas has spent his entire life in the sport and in the industry. Marty successfully competed on the ASP tour from 1985 to 1997, reaching a career high of ninth in the world. He is currently Managing Director of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing and will continue in that capacity.

Marty has also been Senior Account Executive for Surfer & Surfing Magazines (2008-2009), Hawai’i Sales Representative and Marketing Director for Rip Curl International (2004-2008); and International Sales Manager for Sanuk footwear (1997-2004).

Working closely with the home office in California, Thomas will be responsible for all of Arctic Foam’s sales, marketing and outreach activities throughout the Hawaiian Islands.

In making the announcement, Andrew Jakubowski, President of Foam Corps Inc., said, “All of us at Arctic Foam are extremely happy and excited about bringing Marty on board.

He’s a great guy, a veteran of the business who enjoys a stellar reputation, and someone I worked closely with when we were both at Rip Curl. Marty is a forward-thinker who stays ahead of the curve and will help us tremendously as we work with our shapers here in the Islands. Because of the phenomenal growth of our business we’ve been a bit too reactive in Hawai’i, which is an incredibly important segment of our business. Marty’s strengths will allow us to shift to a future orientation and his continued involvement with the Vans Triple Crown presents a terrific opportunity for Arctic Foam as we build our relationships within the industry.”

Thomas said, “When I heard Andrew was looking for someone to move into this slot, I knew it was something I wanted to go after for several reasons. Arctic Foam is on a roll, leading the surf industry at its very core, the foam blanks, which are crafted by the world’s best shapers into the boards we ride. It’s a young and aggressive company with lots of potential and lots of talent, and it gives me an opportunity to leverage my skills and my relationships in a way that will be beneficial to our customers and to the company. I’ve known Andrew for years and I know he shares that vision. I’m stoked and am looking forward to getting started right away.”
