May 2, 2013 (Lake Forest, CA) – etnies skateboarders Nick Garcia and Willow went to battle, climbed the ranks and attained pro status through their honorable skateboarding. They’ve earned their stripe and today #etnies is awarding Nick and Willow with their own #EarnYourStripe colorway of the #etniesRCT shoe along with a new split-screen short documentary film depicting their unique journeys: https://etni.es/earn-your-stripe. In tribute to Nick and Willow’s dedication to skateboarding, etnies is inviting skaters around the world to also earn their stripe by submitting their sponsor me videos to win a year’s supply of etnies shoes.
The Earn Your Stripe contest, which launched today, allows skateboarders around the world to submit a video showcasing their best skating. Since Nick and Willow personally know what it takes to earn your stripe, they will review all entries and pick the top three finalists. From there, the public will vote on which skater has earned their stripe. The winner will receive free etnies shoes for an entire year! In honor of Nick and Willow, two guys from completely different backgrounds and countries, but with a shared hunger for skating, etnies created a day-in-the-life video presenting how each has earned their stripe during their service to skateboarding. The short documentary-styled film is creatively displayed in a split-screen format that simultaneously shows them in their different environments across the globe; Nick in his hometown of Long Beach, Calif. and Willow in his native country, Germany. But having turned pro within days of each other, these two guys are more similar than one might think. Nick’s colorway of the RCT is reminiscent of the navy and gold colors used on his first pro Element board with a special interior lining tying back to his Pro campaign. The shoe is emblazoned with the etnies Earn Your Stripe seal on the side heel and footbed.

Reflecting the black, red and gold colors of the German flag, his native country, and his first pro model Almost board, Willow’s RCT signature colorway is made of canvas, his preferred shoe material, and features the etnies Earn Your Stripe seal on the side heel and footbed.
As one of the most comfortable styles in the etnies collection, the RCT is narrow with a specially shaped toe to increase board flick, while the midsole has a cage-like design built for additional support.
