Costa Mesa, CA (June 17, 2013): Rip Curl is ecstatic to present the The Tom Curren Collection from the Live The Search series. An indisputable icon of greatness in the sport, Tom Curren’s legacy extends bounds beyond his 3 ASP World Titles, and this collection aims to pay homage to his influence and contributions to surfing.
The collection’s backbone stems from two separate timeless moments, photographed by Tom Servais and Lance Slabbert. Both from the early 90’s and both moments holding supreme relevancy for Curren fans worldwide. His flawless yellow-rail board carve at Backdoor, captured by Tom Servais, is credited as the “most well-known single action photo I’ve ever taken,” according to Servais.
The other photo, captured by Lance Slabbert, showcases Tom Curren bottom turning at flawless Jeffrey’s Bay during his iconic first session at the famed righthand point. This moment captured the essence of “Curren on The Search”, which was such an inspiring chapter in Tom’s career through the early to mid 90’s.
Both moments have been translated into a collection of product with different executions and is available now.
In conjunction with the launch, the Rip Curl Retail Tour with Tom Curren will be starting next week! With stops up and down the west coast, Curren will be in attendance to play live music and sign autographs, while Rip Curl will be providing free tacos, giveaways, and more!
