I spent a few hours walking around the Vans US Open of Surfing Saturday afternoon and I also checked out the marketing scene on Main Street.

During the time I was there, Neff was ruling the day at Jack’s after bringing in lead singer Austin Carlile from the band Of Mice & Men for an autograph signing. Teens, mostly girls, lined up starting at 6 a.m. to see him, and the line stretched around the corner for blocks and blocks. Girls brought him gifts and some broke out in tears after meeting him.

Other Neff athletes and celebrities on hand included surfer Jordy Smith and rapper The Game, however the long line of fans was most interested in Carlile.

Spy and Von Zipper were also having autograph signings on Main Street during the time I was there, and Tilly’s had a pretty big presence on the street.

We took lots of photos of what we saw at the event and on the street in the slide show, above.
