Press release:
On Monday, October 7th, Quiksilver and The Quiksilver Foundation hosted their 6th Annual Golf Tournament at the Santa Ana Country Club. The tournament brought together many of Quiksilver’s vendors, retailers, athletes and employees, including Chairman of the Board and Co-Founder, Bob McKnight. The local community came out in full support of the event with sponsors ranging from GE Capital, Ross Stores, GoPro, Primo Beer, Archie’s Ice Cream, and Billy’s at The Beach to CHOC Children’s Hospital, Earth Pack, Bear Flag Fish Company, McKenna Cars, TravisMathew Golf and many others.
Beginning the day with a ShotGun start at 10am, 136 golfers started at one of the 18 holes, each of which offered a game, giveaway, prize or refreshment for the golfers to enjoy throughout the day. Highlights included a full Tiki Mai Tai Bar courtesy of Billy’s at The Beach, icy treats from the TravisMathew ice cream truck and the always popular Original Hawaiian beer from Primo. Golfers even had the chance to win a car from McKenna Cars for a Hole in One.
The day concluded with a reception in the Clubhouse where golfers were given the opportunity to bid on unique silent and live auction items such as a surf lesson with four-time ASP Women’s World Champion, Lisa Andersen, a skate day experience with Tony Hawk, tickets to Rob Dyrdek’s popular show Ridiculousness and floor seats to the Lakers.
All proceeds from the tournament will go towards the Quiksilver Foundation which donates funds to local and foreign charities that promote and support ocean life, education, environmental studies, health programs and an array of other philanthropic initiatives. Quiksilver Foundation is proud to work with organizations such as The Ocean Institute, Keep A Breast, CHOC Children’s Hospital, Stoked Mentoring, SurfAid International, Reef Check, 5 Gyres and the Aquarium of the Pacific.
Thanks to the many sponsors and supporters involved, the event was a complete success. Quiksilver would like to express its gratitude for everyone’s generous support of the Quiksilver Foundation.
