Focus SUP Hawaii team rider Mo Freitas from Haleiwa, Hawaii received the “Rookie of the Year” award at the SUP Awards at the awards night in San Clemente, CA leading into to this year’s “Battle of the Paddle”.
In a year where the young Mo collaborated with top shaper/designer, North Shore’s Pat Rawson to develop the high performance SUP, he’s been ripping in the waves, as well as becoming a force also in racing, finishing fifth in the recent “Battle of the Paddle” elite division.
Mo won the “Rookie”award by a crushing margin validating his amazing skills both as a SUP racer and SUP surfer in the presence of a packed house of top athletes and industry leaders.
In his acceptance speech, Mo thanked his sponsors Focus SUP Hawaii and Body Glove and of course his dad Tony Freitas who has been the driving force behind the young phenomenon.
Focus SUP Hawaii is thrilled with his victory and wanted to thank all who voted for him.
