Press release:

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Nov. 18, 2013) — The fans have spoken and voting is officially closed for the Rockstar Energy Drink can art contest and the Miss Inked Up model competition, both part of the Inked Up World Tour 2013 presented by Rockstar Energy Drink, the Sullen Art Collective, and Tattoo Magazine.

The Inked Up World Tour is a global celebration of the tattoo lifestyle that combines 12 top tattoo artists, 12 top tattoo conventions, a Rockstar Energy Drink can art contest with a $25,000 purse, a Miss Inked Up model contest, and a Keep A Breast cast exhibit to create a truly unique, yearlong program supporting the art and culture of tattooing.

The tour culminates on December 7, 2013 at the official wrap party and group exhibition at Known Gallery, one of the most influential street and contemporary art spaces in Los Angeles. The Rockstar Energy Drink can art contest winner will be announced and art from each of the 12 artists will be on display, including the 12 Keep A Breast casts. All are invited to the public viewing from 9-11pm where artwork will be available for purchase.

“Appreciation of art is subjective. Technique is not. The Inked Up Tour is a gathering of world class talents sharing amazing commissioned art and technique,” said Ryan Smith, co-founder and Creative Director for Sullen Clothing and the Sullen Art Collective. “Sullen was in the unique position of having long standing collaborative relationships with both Rockstar and Tattoo Magazine. This tour gave all our brands a collective platform to share an art-driven lifestyle movement and its defining artists with a world of fans. Not only those audiences native to the tattoo culture, but to a worldwide audience focused on modern art, contemporary presentation and unique movements in the evolving global arts culture.”

The Inked Up Tour artists have solidified themselves as both master tattooers and contemporary artists. Each artist was drawn from the Sullen Art Collective global family of artistic talents, with each receiving an invitation to showcase both their original art and tattoo skills at tour stops around the globe.  The featured talents include the following living legends:

Mike Chambers – Featured at Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention

Bob Tyrrell – Featured at Detroit Tattoo Convention

Shawn Barber – Featured at Salt Lake City Tattoo Convention

Moni Marino – Featured at Frankfurt Tattoo Convention

Camila Rocha – Featured at Hell City Ohio

Robert Atkinson – Featured at New York City Tattoo Convention

Nikko Hurtado – Featured at Northern Ink Xposure

Oliver Peck – Featured at Ink Life Tour

Carlos Torres – Featured at Pacific Ink and Art Expo

Jack Rudy – Featured at Seattle Tattoo Expo

Robert Hernandez – Featured at London Tattoo Convention

NORM – Featured at Portland Tattoo Convention

In tandem with the can art contest, the Miss Inked Up model competition was held at each of the 12 tour stops. This modeling event focused on the intersection of tattoo art and the emerging movement of tattooed models and spokeswomen from around the globe.  A finalist was selected at each tour stop by a host panel, with the overall Miss Inked Up World Tour 2013 winner selected via online fan voting and announced in December.

“Tattoo art and culture has begun to take its rightful place in the mainstream art conversation. Our goal with the tour was to support this movement and help elevate the tattoo artists and personalities who are behind it.” said Heather Rodman, Marketing Manager at Rockstar Energy Drink. “We were honored to partner with Sullen, Tattoo Magazine, and Keep A Breast, who share our support of individuality, creativity, and living outside the lines.”

The Keep A Breast Foundation serves as the charity partner for the Inked Up Tour 2013. Keep A Breast is the leading youth-focused, global nonprofit breast cancer organization whose foundation and inspiration comes from art. The tour artists were invited to paint on 12 breast casts of artists, musicians, and models. These 12 casts will on display at the wrap party and are available for purchase with proceeds benefiting the Keep A Breast Foundation.

All are invited to the public opening and wrap party in celebration of the Inked Up World Tour.
