Shop-eat-surf’s top 25 viewed stories in 2013 reflect some of the huge changes roiling the industry, particularly some of the largest players.
Two of the biggest companies, Billabong and Quiksilver, have new leadership teams and have gone through significant restructuring.
Other companies were not immune to the changes, with senior executive leadership changes at Hurley, Volcom and the La Jolla Group as well.
The fight for Billabong was the dominant story of the year, however, and even though the company now has financial stability and a new CEO in Neil Fiske, expect more Billabong news in 2014 as the company evaluates its brand portfolio, beefs up its executive team and streamlines some functions.
There is also a lot of anticipation surrounding Paul Naude’s new brand, Vissla, which launches at the upcoming trade shows in January. His attempt to buy Billabong, and his future plans, generated a lot of news in 2013 as well.
