Sole Technology is releasing a special drop of new éS shoes on Valentine’s Day after putting the brand on “creative retreat” in Fall 2012.
Sole Tech CEO Pierre André Senizergues said in an interview that since the brand left the market, there have been a lot of people around the world asking for it.
“We had so many requests, we realized the brand was iconic,” he said. “We knew it was a good brand before, but were caught up in the day-to-day, and never really took a step back and looked at it.”
Pierre stressed that the special drop does not mean the brand is coming off its retreat, and there is no éS skate team or official website.
But after seeing the reaction to a limited edition release in Japan in November 2013, the company realized the demand was there for a global, limited edition offering.
On Friday, éS will unveil three new styles, and each style will have two colors, red and black.
Sole Tech will sell the stores in 100 stores around the world that support skate culture and the skate community, and each store will only get eight pairs of each color.
The shoes are prices from $65 to $70.
“They are good quality and have good durability, with good board feel, and are affordably priced for people who love skateboarding,” Pierre said.
Sole Tech began hinting that something was coming with éS on social media, and the response has been huge, he said.
I asked Pierre what this means for the éS brand in the future, and if more limited edition shoes will be released.
“The brand is still on creative retreat, we will see how the response is and maybe we’ll do another drop in the future,” he said.
Here is the list of U.S. retailers that will sell the shoes.
