The erratic shopping patterns continue at the mall and are reflected in Zumiez's results.

Zumiez experienced a bumpy January, with same store sales declining 7.6% for the month.

Every category – men’s, hardgoods, footwear, junior’s, boys and accessories – recorded negative comps, a very rare occurrence for Zumiez.

The average number of transactions decreased during the quarter, as did the average dollars per transaction.

Total sales declined 24.3% to $38.1 million. However, there was an extra week in last year’s results. Excluding the extra week, Zumiez’s total sales this January declined 0.5%.

Comps for all of the fourth quarter fell 2.2%, within the revised guidance range issued by Zumiez. Comps for 2013 declined 0.3%.

The company currently operates 551 stores, and 491 of those are in the comp base.
