“It’s always a display of the world best up and coming surf photographers, and this year’s submissions and finalists work continues to inspire us!” Peter Taras, Photo Editor, SURFING Magazine.  Chris Burkhard, past FTFL winner commented “FTFL was a critical turning point for me.  It gave me the validation and opportunity to be pushed into my professional career.  And, winning the grant gave me the ability and means to publish my book, “The California Surf Project.”

Past winners include other renown photograhers like Shawn Parkin, Ray Collins, Todd Glaser, Duncan McFarlane, Morgan Maassen, Matt Clark, and last year’s winner, Trevor Moran.

The winner of the $5,000 grant will be announced during the annual FTFL Awards event on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 7:00pm at the Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach, CA.  FTFL Awards are held during VANS US Open of Surfing, the world’s largest surf event.  The FTFL Awards program is now in its 9th year and is an annual tribute to surf-photography legend, Larry “Flame” Moore.  The foundation was founded to support his legacy of three decades as photo editor at SURFING Magazine, and the awards are meant to ensure that talented young photographers receive the recognition needed to showcase their work.

SWELL will again host the “People’s Choice” award, where offsite fans and event attendees can vote via portal for their winner’s choice.

The Follow the Light Foundation is generously supported by VANS and SWELL and sponsored by Oakley, SURFING, and Hurley.
