Editor’s note 1: The headline on this original post said that the ASP offices were moving to New York. While the Sponsorship Sales Operation is moving to New York, the main office will remain in Santa Moncia.
Editor’s note 2: Here is an email Liam Ferguson sent yesterday to let the industry know about his departure from the ASP.
Dear Friends,
I wanted to send a very brief note letting you know this will be my last week with the ASP World Tour.
The ASP is moving our Sponsorship Sales Operations to New York City and at this time I have decided to remain here in California. I will be resigning my position of Vice President of Sponsorship Integration.
I am very proud of my contribution to the new ASP World Tour, bringing on world class partners for the first events in Australia, Rio, Fiji and J-Bay complimenting the outstanding surf endemic brands already involved. I was honored to work closely with Chris Culbertson, the ASP Marketing Department and introduce Justin Heit at Libre to design the new ASP seal and help branding for events. As a team, we have set up a solid foundation for additional global partners to participate and continue delivering a first-in-class experience to our athletes and fans.
We have a new Chief Commercial Officer officially coming on board this week. His name is Mark Noonan. He has a great deal of experience in the sponsorship world, including working with MLS (Major League Soccer in the US), naming rights for Citi Field in New York and working on “bluechip” sports brands like Gatorade. His email ismnoonan@aspworldtour.com.
The ASP World Tour is in great hands with Paul Speaker and his executive team, I wish them the very best!
