24 August, 2014 – +swappow is a new mobile and online marketplace where action sports participants and the industry can swap, sell and share any pre owned equipment in exchange for cash, credits or just to help others get riding/rolling more affordably. The platform is designed to serve as the Action Sports industry’s own alternative to eBay and Craigslist and the place where we all swap our old gear.
Since a soft BETA launch in May, +swappow has been testing the platform and quietly attracting visitors from 55 countries while listings and transactions have come from customers in the US and Canada as well as Great Britain and Brazil. The company has also already completed successful collaborations with leading southwest region retailers and resellers, national and local action sports focused Not For Profits and trade associations and is currently testing the platform with a select few manufacturers.
The site is free to join, free to list items and +swappow is working with industry associations including the Board Retailers Association (BRA) and offering all of the industry 0% sales commissions for the first 6 months to test the platform. +swappow is even offering a free listing assistance service to the industry. Shops, reps, riders and manufacturers can just contact +swappow at sharetheride@swappow.com and a +swappow representative will either come list items or remotely help to facilitate the process. +swappow typically charges a straight 7% commission for successful transactions and 10% for rentals. Demos and loaners are, of course, free. The platform is also always free to use for any action sports related Not For Profit to use for fundraising.
