SES has heard from a few retailers that K2 has experienced some delays in the shipping of its snowboards this season.

We followed up, and K2 emailed the following statement from Tim Petrick, President and CEO.

“K2 sports is in the process of opening the largest and most sophisticated ski and snowboard factory in the world. This effort has had its share of normal startup challenges, but once finished, it will serve our customers faster, more efficiently and will uphold our incredibly high quality standards for years to come,” he said in the statement.

“That being said, we are currently in the process of moving production from our previous facility to the new one, and as production ramps up we expect to be fully operating in the new facility by early 2015. K2 has, to date, delivered more than 50 percent of the orders we booked for 2014/15 snowboard products into the market, and that number increases daily.

“We have been in close communications with our global customers and they have been understanding of the slightly later than requested delivery dates thus far.  This is a tribute to the long term, profitable relationships we have with customers big and small around the globe, as well as our history of innovation and quality,” Petrick said.
