The industry jumped into the new year at Agenda yesterday and SES has photos of whom we saw during the day.
In addition to the legacy brands in the industry, there was a palpable sense of new brands entering the scene and gaining some attention, including DEPACTUS, Cova, Salty Crew, Vissla and Amuse Society.
We noticed some new booths, including Billabong’s, which doubled in size, and ourCaste’s, which had some nice touches such as subway tiles, and built-in plant stands.
We always find out about several personnel changes as we make our way through the show, and here are some we learned about yesterday.
- Well-regarded designer Jason Bleick, who was working with Volcom, is now designing all the apparel “for the land” for DEPACTUS. Lawrance Quigley, formerly of Oakley, continues to design the technical apparel and goods “for the sea.”
- Several industry executives are now at Converse, including: Peter Dericks, formerly of Vans, who is the VP of Marketing for Cons; Russ Pope, who is the Brand Marketing Director for North America; and Kristin Cusic, formerly of 686 and iPath, who is the Director of Brand Communications.
- Chris Bernard, formerly the lead Burton rep in the New York/Northeast region, is moving to Vermont for a new position as Business Development Director at Burton.
- Jim Shubin is the new Marketing Director at DVS.
Agenda continues today at the Long Beach Convention Center. Later in the week, the industry heads to Orlando for Surf Expo.
