IASC announces keynote for 8th annual IASC summit

Orange County, Calif., (April 2015) – The International Assn. of Skateboard Companies (IASC) is proud to announce the keynote and additions to the speaker lineup, for the 2015 IASC Skateboarding Summit, which will be held at the Westin South Coast Plaza Hotel in Costa Mesa, Calif. May 13 to 15.

This year will be the first time the Summit hosts the Innoskate Global Innovator Congress. Innoskate is IASC’s ongoing partnership with the Smithsonian’s Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation, focused on looking at invention and innovation through the lens of skateboarding.

The Congress will consist of innovators from all over the world who are utilizing skateboarding as an effective tool for social change. This is a unique chance to hear from some of the most inspiring and passionate skateboard activists from around the globe; Oliver Percovich from Skateistan, Miles Jackson from Cuba Skate, Israel Dejene from Megabi Skate in Ethiopia, Vinicius Tinoco from Next Up Foundation and professional skateboarder Chico Brenes from Central Skate Camp and Central Skateshop in Nicaragua.

Dr. Jeffrey Brodie, Deputy Director of the Smithsonian’s Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation, Betsy Gordon, Project Manager at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian and Josh Friedberg, Executive Director Emeritus of IASC will be moderating what promises to be one of the most inspiring skateboarding discussions ever, to close out the 8th Annual IASC Skateboarding Summit. In addition to the keynote guests, this year’s Summit team is excited to announce some additions on their speaker lineup:

The 8th Annual IASC Summit, sponsored by Vans, will focus on the global evolution of skateboarding business, as well as the evolution of IASC as the team enters their 21st year as skateboarding’s not-for-profit trade association.

For the past seven years, IASC has brought together industry leaders and experts from both within and outside the industry for this 3-day experience – the premier educational and networking event in skateboarding.
