Press release:
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – April 9, 2015 – To celebrate the launch of their collaboration with fashion designer Julien David, Quiksilver is hosting a 1980s surf retrospective at Just One Eye gallery in Los Angeles this Wednesday, April 15. Co-hosted by DJ Paul Sevigny, the art showcase will reflect the aesthetic of Quiksilver’s capsule collection, created in conjunction with David.
“For the first chapter in JULIEN DAVID QUIKSILVER, the pieces we have designed are based on the 80’s surf scene, where surf really became part of pop culture,” says David. “The installation we are doing at Just One Eye takes inspiration from this era, showing parts of what surf looked like at that time and the influence of Quiksilver. We feel Just One Eye is a perfect fit for the collection. California is the birthplace of the research we did for this season.”
The debut collection of JULIEN DAVID QUIKSILVER will focus on men’s boardshorts, wetsuits, rashguards and t-shirts. The styles will launch on June 25th as part of the Julien David Spring 2015 show in the designer’s native Paris. This collection marks the first on-going fashion partnership in Quiksilver’s history, and will span three years, re-defining the relationship between surf style and high fashion. The focus on boardshorts in the debut capsule will highlight Quiksilver’s heritage as the creator of the first boardshorts in the 1970s. Julien David’s designs will incorporate Quiksilver’s eco-driven production methods and progressive AG47 technology.
The JULIEN DAVID QUIKSILVER launch event at Just One Eye will run from 6pm-9pm on Wednesday, April 15. Just One Eye is located at 7000 Romaine Street in Los Angeles. All guests can RSVP to justoneeye@karlaotto.com.
