Hurley’s website and ecommerce shop now live on parent company Nike’s website.
The change happened Sunday, and was announced to Hurley consumers Monday via email.
“We’ve moved,” the subject line of the email reads. “Hurley is now on Nike.com.”
And Nike is giving Hurley a huge ride this week.
The four rotating big banners on the Nike.com homepage are all for Hurley products, and feature boardshorts, sandals, and surf shirts. Two of the banners showcase John John Florence. The photos ID him as “John John Florence Professional Surfer.”
The first banner that appears says, “Nike presents Hurley – Everything you need to perform your best in the water. Featuring the Phantom JJF Elite Boardshort. Crafted by curiosity.”
The amazing thing: There are no rotating banners on the Nike homepage with Nike product at the moment. It’s all Hurley. Though, to be accurate, the banner for Hurley sandals appears under the heading “Nike Free of Summer.” In smaller print, the sandals are described as Hurley Phantom Free Sandals with Nike Free Technology.
Also, at the very top of the homepage there are three icons for Nike+, Air Jordan and Hurley.
That Hurley tab takes users to the Hurley microsite, which features products and also has a place for athletes. The athletes that have their own navigation are John John Florence, Julian Wilson, Kolohe Andino, Filipe Toledo and Carissa Moore.
When people go directly to Hurley.com, it takes users to the Hurley microsite on Nike.com.
Hurley products also appear under the general Nike navigation in different categories.
For instance if one clicks on sandals, the first 28 styles are Hurley sandals before any Nike sandals appear.
In the men’s surf and swimming category, Hurley boardshorts and wetsuits are the first offering, and many styles are for sale.
It is unclear if Hurley will come first in those categories in the future, or if that order will change.
Hurley products are not limited to boardshorts and sandals. Hurley is also offered in other categories like hoodies, shorts, T-shirts, women’s boardshorts and swim, and more.
We hope to talk to Hurley about this major development soon.
