(Carlsbad, CA)– June 15, 2015- Reef, the global surf lifestyle leader, has partnered with H.D. Lee to create a truly unique capsule – the Reef x H.D. Lee Shelter Supply Collection.
H.D. Lee is known for its classic, Americana-inspired product, rooted in its 125-year heritage. For this aspirational collaboration, the two brands have melded Reef’s authentic surf travel lifestyle with Lee’s timeless, American heritage. The men’s apparel offerings will be available in limited release to select retailers, October 2015.
The vision and focus for the seven-piece capsule collection, made in the USA (of imported fabric and materials), was to create aspirational menswear with a utilitarian perspective. The Shelter Supply Collection includes the timeless appeal of classic denim jeans and practical tops designed with elevated construction, keeping in mind the high-end consumer. Reef and Lee collaborated to develop modernized heritage pieces that fit together for day-to-night versatility with color pallets that deliver functional wearability.
“Co-existing with our elements has always been the true test of form and function; our design teams brought this to fruition as we are creating for ourselves! What better way to experience a product than from the people who live and breathe this type of culture everyday,” says Peter Lang, Design Director of Lee.

The H.D. Lee Mercantile was founded in 1898, in Salina, Kansas, and became famous for making denim “dungarees.” Their history is grounded in the blue-collar American worker, the sailors, laborers, railroad workers, loggers and miners who built the country. Combining fashion and tradition, the Shelter Supply Collection defines American heritage through a stylistic lens. The denim bottoms are designed with timeless style and durability for the road, modernized with stylistic fit and wash treatments. The tops are designed for travel and versatility without sacrificing style and utility.
The Reef x H.D. Lee Shelter Supply Collection is made up of the 3-layer, striped heavy canvas vest at $190 MSRP, a chambray-lined, brushed herringbone workshirt at $140, a heathered, shawl fleece at $130, heavy, two-layer knit henley at $72, antique-washed canvas pant at $160, selvedge denim pant at $220, and in keeping with Reef’s long tradition of surf travel, a denim-washed boardbag at $150. Each is made for the versatile travel lifestyle that Reef is known for, matched by Lee’s bedrock quality, functionality, and style.
