Press release:

Vista, Ca – June 30, 2015 – Sticky Bumps is proud to announce the addition of Australian Ironwoman Karlee Nurthen to its Elite Team.  Karlee’s commitment to her sport as well as her passion for competing make her an amazing fit with the world’s top wax and surf accessory brand.  Karlee has recently qualified to compete in the Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Professional Ironman Series (she will be the youngest female in this year’s events) and also competes in Surf Life Saving at state, national and elite levels.  She is truly dedicated and trains for Surf Life Saving and Ironman events by putting in over 20 hours per week in the gym and at the beach.  She uses Sticky Bumps for multiple competitive events to keep her connected to her equipment for optimum performance, plus when surfing in her free time.

“I’m ecstatic to be a part of such a family orientated team like Sticky Bumps. I’m over the moon to be representing my favorite and the best wax out there in the sports I live to do.  As an Ironwoman everything comes down to those perfections, whether it’s your gear, the wax in your seat or your fitness, so to have these guys on board with me helping to fulfill my dream is something I am forever greatful for.  Not to mention the absolute legends they get to put their name next to in their professional disciplines. Bring on the season.” –Karlee Nurthen

“Every sport is multifaceted, and when you’re a surfer, you’re most likely a successful athlete.  We love Karlee’s dedication to her Ironman events and are impressed with her accomplishments in that arena.  We are honored to support her at this early stage in her career and can’t wait to watch her talent grow.  Her lifestyle is a shoo-in for what our company is all about: life at the beach, surfing, paddling, kayaking, running, and just being athletic.” – John Dahl, President, Wax Research

About Karlee Nurthen

Karlee Nurthen is just 19 years old, but already ranked as the 5th best Ironwoman in Australia and 11th best in the world.  She is originally from Shelly Beach in NSW, Australia, but moved to Queensland on the Sunshine Coast to start training and competing in Ironman and Surf Life Saving events.  She is currently a member of the Elite Michael King Ironman Academy training squad and the Mooloolaba Surf Club.  Her accomplishments within the Ironman realm are impressive… she is the only female athlete in all of Surf Life Saving to win five consecutive Ironwoman titles in a row starting with the first possible Ironwoman race (U12 age group) and was recently picked for the Australian team competing in Japan for the Sanyo International Life Saving Cup this July.  Life as a professional athlete has also allowed Karlee to follow another passion, traveling with her sister, who also competes in Ironwoman events.
