CONTRAVISUAL ADDS SULLEN CLOTHING TO ITS REPERTOIRE OF LIFESTYLE CLOTHING BRANDS

Art Driven Apparel Brand’s Founders Ryan Smith and Jeremy Hanna Partner  with Contravisual to Expand and Develop Global Footprint of Leading Tattoo Culture Lifestyle Brand

Seal Beach, Calif. (July, 18th 2016) — Sullen Clothing, the art-driven lifestyle apparel brand based in Orange County, Calif., announced today that the brand was acquired by a division of Contravisual. Sullen’s operations and staff have relocated to Contravisual’s Seal Beach headquarters.

Sullen Clothing founders Ryan Smith and Jeremy Hanna initiated discussions with the company earlier this year after hearing the tragic news of their investor passing away. As discussions progressed, an instant fit was recognized. Contravisual’s apparel brands include, among others, Society, Secret Artist, Psych Industries, American Fighter, Sinful, Xtreme Couture, and Affliction. It is also affiliated with Massive Prints in Rancho Dominguez, California, one of the largest screen-printing facilities in California.

“Contravisual really shares our vision and drive on where we want to take Sullen Clothing next,” said Ryan Smith. Ryan states “Jeremy and I have done a decent job at growing this brand out of our garage into an internationally recognized brand, but Contravisual’s principals Courtney Dubar and Eric Foss’ experience in building brands is just what we need to get Sullen Clothing to the next level. Jeremy Hanna shares that same excitement – “There couldn’t be a better partner to team up with. I am super excited to learn from them. Their work ethic is second to none. Their team has already taken so many duties off of our to-do list, giving Ryan more freedom to be creative, and me more freedom to create those events and relationships that got us where we are today”.

Sullen Clothing has been operating in Orange County, Calif. for 15 years and is a leader in tattoo apparel, a niche market that has given the company solid growth for the last ten years.  Smith has been a tattoo artist for 20 years and has worked with over 150 different tattoo artists from all over the globe, taking their art and skillfully applying it onto Sullen apparel. Smith, Hanna and their team moved out of their 13,000 square foot facility in Los Alamitos last week and are hitting the ground running at Contravisual’s 60,000 square foot headquarters just four miles west.

About Sullen: Sullen is an Art-Driven lifestyle apparel brand that integrates like-minded sub cultures within one platform.  Ryan Smith, a professional tattoo artist for over 20 years has built relationships with some of the worlds top tattoo artists, graffiti artists, and painters – The ‘Sullen Art Collective.’  Sullen is also very deeply rooted in the local music scene and in action sports.  Sullen is not defined by any one style of music, single sport, artistic style or culture.  It represents a community of culturally aware individuals inspired by a diverse range of interests, each of which is represented through Sullen’s underground movement.  You could describe Sullen’s lifestyle in many ways… but it always comes back to the art.
