Proving the adage that when one door closes, another one opens, former Sanuk Global VP of Marketing Ethan Anderson has landed a prime job outside the industry.
He is the new VP of Marketing for Stone Brewery, the rapidly growing craft brewery company based in San Diego. Ethan, one of the nicest guys in the industry, got to know the Stone team when Sanuk and Stone created a collaboration sandal.
Stone is the 10th largest craft brewer in the U.S., and has expanded to Richmond, Virginia and Berlin, Germany.
The company has also created a restaurant concept at some of its breweries, and will open eateries in Berlin and Richmond soon.
Founder and CEO Greg Koch is passionately committed to remaining a private company and says Stone will not sell to a industrial beer conglomerate, which was appealing to Ethan.
Other key Stone company principals include never paying to advertise its product on print or broadcast media and never discounting beer.
Ethan worked at Sanuk for two years, but is best known for his time at Volcom, where he worked for 18 years. His last job at Volcom was EVP of Global Creative.
Ethan left Sanuk when owner Deckers Brands moved the company to Deckers headquarters in Goleta.
