Hurley activated John John Florence on Saturday in Orange County ahead of the Hurley Pro, which starts this week.
“John John Florence is so much more than a world champion surfer, and while he’s in town, we wanted to connect him with two of the biggest surfing communities in Southern California,” said Evan Slater, Hurley GM of Brand Marketing.
John John’s day started at the Huntington Beach Pier, where he surfed with about 40 members of the Huntington Beach High School Surf Team and other fans.
His next stop was at Huntington Surf & Sport, where he participated in a Q&A with Peter King and then signed autographs and posed for photos.
HSS also arranged for John John to put his foot and handprints in concrete in front of the Hurley store at HSS in a special ceremony.
Saturday night, John John did a Q&A and autograph signing session at the Hobie store in Dana Point, which was jammed with fans.
Evan said John John has launched a new slogan #getoutthereandlearn to encourage others to go outside, embrace the natural surroundings and do everything they can to understand and preserve ocean health.
