Jason Steris, who joined Volcom in 1993 as a Southern California sales rep and rose to become CEO, has exited the company, Volcom confirmed this afternoon.

Jason, who is very well-liked in the industry, spent nearly his whole career at Volcom, holding a variety of titles including National Sales Manager, COO and President.

He was a key executive when the company went public, and also during the more recent ownership by Kering.

Kering recently named its executive Todd Hymel as CEO of Action Sports Brands and moved him from Paris to Orange County. Kering acquired Volcom in 2011.

Here is the official statement from Volcom:

I am incredibly appreciative of all that I have learned and especially grateful to everyone  who supported me over the years and helped make this company one of my greatest joys. I will always root for the continued success of the Stone.”
