Swim brands from across the world came out to Miami Swim Week to show their Spring and Resort 2018 lines

Swimwear brands from across the world came out to Miami Swim Week to show their Spring and Resort 2018 lines this weekend.

Miami Swim Week combines the Hammock, Cabana and Swim Show tradeshows and features a variety of runway shows in the evenings.

A few trends stood out throughout the shows:

  • As seen at Swim Collective, one-pieces are very strong for the season. Many brands said that one-pieces are their leading style. They can often double as bodysuits and are perfect beach-to-street lifestyle pieces.
  • ’90s style fashion and high-cut bottoms are getting great results as well. The Frankie’s Bikinis runway show, which was well attended with lines to get in, featured an upbeat, ’90s sleepover theme. Bright pink, pom-poms, and Clueless-inspired clothing were seen throughout the show. Lolli Swim’s Spring line also features the signature ’90s/early 2000s pom-poms and bright pink.
  • Bright colors are in for spring and are popping up in brands that are usually known for more natural tones. Acacia, Mikoh, Minimale Animale, Kaohs, Solid & Striped, Rhythm and Skye & Staghorn have all incorporated bright colors into their spring lines.
  • While pops of bright and neon colors are making an appearance, muted tones are still very popular for the upcoming spring. Army green and blush colors are seen throughout Tori Praver, Issa De’ Mar, Rhythm and Koa’s lines. Natural tones and pastels are staples in Tavik, Minimale Animale, Amuse Society and Bettinis Bikini’s lines.
  • Non-traditional bikini tops are trending for Spring 2018. Off-the-shoulder tops are making a comeback as seen in Bettinis Bikinis, Mikoh, Maaji, Rheya Swim, Koa and other brands’ Spring 2018 collection. Underwire tops are a leading style for Kaohs, Tori Praver and Skye & Staghorn.
  • Specialty fabrics are increasingly popular, especially for one-pieces. Ribbed, seersucker, smocking and other novelty fabrics are strong for Spring 2018. Acacia, who has incorporated a variety of fabrics in the past, expanded their crochet and ribbed options. Issa De’ Mar is adding specialty fabrics to their collection for the first time this upcoming season. Tavik’s ribbed one-pieces have gotten great feedback. Amuse Society, Solid & Striped and Minimale Animale all experimented with different textures as well.
  • There is an increasing demand for fashion-forward, fuller-coverage swimwear in the industry. Many brands have created bottoms with more coverage that still allow women to feel sexy and feminine. Tavik is working to create fashionable swimwear that gives options to women of different ages and sizes. They took their essential pieces up to XL and are offering fuller-coverage bottoms and tops. Acacia, who is known for their thong-style bottoms, has added a fuller-coverage bottom that still has the signature Acacia style. Minimale Animale, whose line is also known for small pieces that provide minimal tan lines, has added a bottom with more coverage to their spring line.
