Salty Crew has shut down its e-commerce site in December to support retailers that carry the brand.
Salty Crew turned off the site in the second week of December and that will last through Dec. 31, said Salty Crew Co-founder Jared Lane.
They made the decision after talking about what they could do to help specialty retailers at a critical time of year for store owners.
“Retailers put us on the map, and we want to show how much we appreciate what they do,” Lane said.
Salty Crew’s direct business is growing robustly, as is its wholesale business. Turning of the ecommerce site will lead to a financial hit for Salty Crew, especially in a busy month like December, where direct sales could account for as much as 25% of revenue for the month.
But the team believes the decision is worth it.
“At the end of the day, we hope retailers pick up those sales,” he said.
Meanwhile, the young brand’s sales continue to boom, and it’s currently all hands on deck to fulfill the wholesale reorders coming in from retailers.
