Editor’s note: Updated to reflect that the La Jolla Group will also become an equity partner in Spiritual Gangster
Spiritual Gangster is partnering with the La Jolla Group and utilizing the company’s backend operating platform as the yoga brand prepares for more growth.
Going forward, the La Jolla Group, which has acquired a stake in the brand, will handle functions like operations, productions, finance, ERP and 3PL.
“Through the joint venture LJG will become an equity partner in the brand which will fuel a truly aligned pursuit of success,” La Jolla Group CEO Daniel Neukomm said.
The operational partnership will allow the Spiritual Gangster team to focus on design, marketing and sales from its Venice headquarters.
Industry veteran Terry Strumpf joined the brand as President six months ago and has hired new sales reps, added showrooms in Los Angeles and New York, and signed with a new distributor in Canada.
The brand is growing rapidly, and the Spiritual Gangster team believes the new arrangement with the La Jolla Group will help the brand scale the business.
“With La Jolla Group’s operational expertise, Spiritual Gangster’s impressive growth will be accelerated,” Terry said.
Spiritual Gangster is a favorite of celebrities and is sold by retailers such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Shopbop, Corepower Yoga, Equinox, and Carbon 38.
The brand describes itself this way: Spiritual Gangster is a lifestyle brand inspired by yogis and made for modern life. Bridging street-level culture with ancient wisdom, we represent a dynamic alignment between ancient spiritual teachings and the culture that shapes our modern world. Music, art, fitness, sports, travel, and fashion all spark our connection to the universe and each other, and those inspirations are woven into our signature styles.
