Volcom is kicking off 2017 with a “Post for Peace” message that uses clips from a John F. Kennedy speech in 1963 that eloquently outlines the case for global peace.
“Our strategy was to create a message we all believed in and personally wanted to share with the world,” Volcom EVP of Global Marketing Ryan Immegart told me via email. “No corporate agenda, no campaign brief, no press release, just hoping to inspire some people with good energy and a positive message of peace.”
“We truly believe in this message and that in 2017 we as a human race need peace more than ever,” he said. “So with that in mind, we decided there would be no better way for Volcom to kick off the New Year.”
The montage shows scenes from Sydney, Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, Beijing, Paris, London, New York, Austin, LA and Hawaii as JFK speech plays.
Volcom encouraged all people, brands, media, retailers, and industries to get involved and provided a public link with over 30 different peace stone options.
The company will continue with the message and evolve it throughout the year.
