Zumiez appears to be pulling away from the retail pack.
The company’s comparable sales jumped 9.3% in September, making it a clear winner for the key back-to-school season.
And Zumiez was up against a tough comparison. Comp sales increased 6.3% in September of 2016.
Men’s and junior’s posted positive results, while accessories, footwear and hardgoods were negative.
Quarter-to-date, the company’s comp sales are up 8.3%.
Year-to-date, comps are 4.9% higher.
Because of stronger-than-expected sales, Zumiez raised its guidance for Q3. The company now expects sales of $241 million to $243 million vs. the previous forecast of $236 million to $241 million.
The company also tightened its earnings guidance range to 45 cents to 48 cents per share vs. the previous outlook of 43 cents to 48 cents.
