Cooler and drinkware maker ORCA (Outdoor Recreation Company of America) has ceased operations, according to an email sent to dealers sent on Jan. 24.
“This was a difficult decision made after extensive deliberation and careful consideration,” said the email from Gathr Outdoors EVP of Sales Deborah Gendreau-Flynn. “While this marks the end of ORCA’s journey under Gathr’s ownership, it is an opportunity for us to refocus our efforts on other brands within the Gathr portfolio, ensuring we continue to deliver innovative products that meet your evolving needs.”
Gathr, the parent company of ORCA, did not respond to multiple requests for additional information or commentary.
The remaining brands under the Gathr umbrella are Cascadia Vehicle Tents, GCI Outdoor, Klymit, PrideSports, and WaterPort. Formerly known as MacNeill Pride Group (MPG), the Nashville, Tenn.-based company rebranded as Gathr Outdoors in 2022. MPG acquired ORCA in 2020.
Effective Jan. 24, all procurement and marketing operations at ORCA ceased, according to the email. All open orders will be fulfilled and all remaining inventory will be available for purchase, while supplies last.
Gathr will not accept returns on previously shipped product, and it will honor parts warranties for the next year. Any approved replacements of products under warranty may be of a different size or color.
“As we bid farewell to ORCA, we do so with immense gratitude for the relationships we’ve built and the memories we’ve shared,” concluded the email. “Thank you for your unwavering support. We look forward to continuing to serve you through our broader portfolio of brands.”
Separately, another cooler brand, Washington-based KONG Coolers, announced it was pausing production in September 2024.
