Canyon founder Roman Arnold is returning to the German bike brand as executive chairman and Nicolas de Ros Wallace will step down from his role as CEO.

As of Sept. 1, Arnold will assume operational leadership responsibilties and will focus on the long-term vision and future strategy for the company.

Canyon was born out of passion – out of the love for sport and for cycling,” Arnold said in a statement. “That passion still drives us today and will carry us into the future. As founder, I return as executive chairman to strengthen our roots and shape our future. At the heart of Canyon are our riders and customers, our community, and our ambition to build the best bikes in the world.”

Under de Ros Wallace’s leadership over three years, Canyon revenue doubled to nearly €800 million ($933 million). He strengthened the brand’s position in the global cycling market, expanded its organizational capabilities, and reinforced its reputation in innovation, performance, and DTC commerce, according to a news release.

“It has been an honour to serve as CEO of Canyon over the past years, a brand admired worldwide for its passion and performance,” de Ros Wallace said in a statement. “I am proud of what we achieved together as a team, and I look forward to seeing Canyon continue to thrive in the years ahead.”

Arnold thanked de Ros Wallace for his contributions to the brand and wished him future success.

“With clear strategy, teamwork, and passion, we will create value for everyone – our employees, our partners, our investors, and above all, our riders,” Arnold said. “Our promise remains: Inspire to Ride.”
