Jason Shelton, one of the most respected sales leaders in the industry, is leaving Billabong to join Salty Crew as Vice President of Sales for North America.

He starts his new job on Jan. 3 and will be working the Salty Crew booth at Surf Expo.

Jason has had a long career in the industry, and worked at Billabong for nine years. He also worked for 17 years at Quiksilver in varied sales roles. Jason started his career working the floor at Surfside Sports.

“I am fired up to be joining Tom Ruiz, Jared Lane, and the whole team at Salty Crew as I have admired the brand since its inception,” Jason told SES. “I am incredibly grateful for my time working with talented friends at Billabong, but this was an opportunity I could not pass up. Salty Crew has become the iconic brand for anyone who loves the ocean and I’m excited to be a part of the next chapter.”

Fast-growing Salty Crew has become a retailer favorite and works in a wide range of stores including surf, skate, outdoor, tackle, and sporting goods. Jason has stellar relationships with many retailers and bolsters an already strong sales team.

“All of us at Salty Crew are very excited to have Jason come on board in our newly created position of VP of North American Sales,” said Tom Ruiz, Global Sales Director.

“I’ve known Jason for many years and have always admired his position in the industry, his relationships with the retailer community, and his business acumen,” Tom said. “We couldn’t ask for a better person to manage and lead our sales as we head into the new year.”

Billabong’s parent company, Boardriders, has been going through a drawn out sale process, which has left many employees in limbo and worried about what the future holds.

Salty Crew is part of Globe International, which owns 50% of the brand.
