Updated: Macy’s, Nordstrom, Burton, Buckle, Ron Jon to Close Stores

Many other industry accounts are closing stores in hopes of slowing the spread of the coronavirus. South Coast Plaza in Orange County has also closed.

Industry customer Nordstrom announced Monday that it is temporarily closing all stores in North America and Canada for two weeks, joining the growing list of retailers that are closing.

Fellow department store company and huge industry account Macy’s said on Tuesday afternoon they would close as well.

Vail Resorts also said Tuesday that its will close all North American resorts and retail stores for the season. Previously, the company’s plan shut operations from Sunday, March 15 through Sunday, March 22.

However, Vail Resorts did say it may reopen Breckenridge Ski Resort in Colorado, Heavenly Mountain Resort in Lake Tahoe and Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia in late April/early May depending on the virus situation as well as weather conditions.

Burton has also closed all of its stores in North America and Europe until further notice.

High-volume account Ron Jon said Monday it is temporarily closing all stores starting March 20 through March 29.

Roark posted on Instagram that it is closing its three stores in California as well.

Influential New York City skate shop KCDC is also closing temporarily.

In Orange County, luxury shopping mall South Coast Plaza said Monday it was shutting for two weeks after a store employee tested positive for the virus.

Disney has also closed the Downtown Disney shopping center adjacent to the shuttered Disneyland theme park, and the Irvine Spectrum is reducing the hours that tenants are required to stay open, according to the Orange County Register.
