Nordstrom Rack said Tuesday it named Lori Marten to head of merchandising as the department store retailer’s off-price business continues to expand.

Marten is now executive vice president and general merchandising manager for the Rack’s brick-and-mortar and online stores.

She previously served as senior vice president and divisional merchandise manager of men’s and women’s specialized, active, and performance outerwear.  Marten’s been with the department store retailer for more than 25 years, and has worked with surf industry brands that sell to Nordstrom.

The Rack business counted 258 locations as of Feb. 3, when the company’s fiscal fourth quarter ended. Twenty-six Nordstrom Rack stores are in the development pipeline with openings slated between now and Spring 2025 as the off-price business continues to be a bright spot for the broader Nordstrom Inc. business.

Nordstrom Rack net sales increased 14.6% in the February quarter to $1.4 billion.

“Lori’s deep understanding of our business and our customers will help fuel the momentum for Nordstrom Rack as we continue to expand our store fleet and improve the customer experience both in-stores and online,” Nordstrom Rack President Gemma Lionello said in a statement announcing the appointment.

The retailer will also count on Marten to “deepen relationships with brand partners,” Lionello added.
