Apparel and gear brand Outdoor Research is celebrating the re-opening of its Seattle flagship store.

Located in the heart of Seattle’s SODO neighborhood, the store is on the ground floor of Outdoor Research’s corporate headquarters in a historic 1926 building. The 2,900 square-foot retail space has been completely redesigned and renovated, aiming to show the brand’s evolution and highlighting its growing number of mountain bike gear, outerwear, and technical layers and sportswear offerings as well as heritage pieces such as gloves, gaiters, and headwear. The space was under renovation for four months and during that time the store didn’t fully close and moved inventory to a temporary location in the same building during the renovation.

“The vision for our new space goes beyond updating the paint and installing new displays,” said Megan Anderson, Outdoor Research’s Seattle store manager. “We’re proud of the store’s updated, modern aesthetic, but more importantly, we want to create a gathering place for the outdoor community in a relatively underserved Seattle neighborhood.”

With that in mind, Outdoor Research is hosting a grand re-opening of its Seattle flagship store on Friday, December 13 with a free food truck and drinks, a welcome gift, raffle, storewide discount, and more.

The store’s location near the I-90 and ferry terminals means it’s a convenient place to stop in on the way to the mountains or the peninsula. The store’s community board will help connect community members and staff to outdoor events.

“Seattle and the surrounding area are home to people who love to get outside, and we’re excited to host events to connect and strengthen our community,” said Anderson. “And, of course, our shelves are always stocked with all our latest gear for wherever your next adventure takes you.”

Founded in 1981 in Seattle by Ron Gregg, a nuclear physicist, Outdoor Research designs technical outdoor apparel, accessories, and equipment for the harshest terrain and conditions.
