Quiksilver has a new VP of Global Marketing and he comes from Vans.
Bobby Gascon has joined Boardriders after 13 years at Vans, where he most recently served as Senior Director of Global Marketing for Action Sports.
Vans is well known for its action sports marketing, and Bobby worked on key Vans properties such as the Vans Park Series and the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, among many other projects across surf, skate, snow and BMX.
Quiksilver, of course, also has a newish leader at the top: Brad Blankinship, who became Global General Manager of Quiksilver about eight months ago when longtime leader Garry Wall stepped down. Brad joined Boardriders in 2019 to lead RVCA.
“We have a lot of exciting things happening at Quiksilver right now and Bobby is the right guy to lead the marketing team,” Brad told SES. “I admire the work he has done at Vans and I’m looking forward to having him on board.”
On LinkedIn, Bobby expressed his appreciation for his long career at Vans and excitement about his new position.
“There are no words to describe the gratitude and appreciation for everything Vans has done for me and my family. A huge thank you to the Van Doren family for welcoming me in the USA with open arms, the brand’s incredible leadership, my colleagues, athletes, partners and friends made along the way,” said Bobby, who started his Vans career in Canada. “I am extremely honored and excited to be joining Boardriders as the VP of Global Marketing for Quiksilver. Thank you for believing in me, now let’s get cooking!”
Currently, Quiksilver is generating buzz with its global Stranger Things collaboration. Here’s a photo of the special Quiksilver/Stranger Things section at Citadium in Paris, which was quite busy this weekend.
