Rip Curl Exec Diem Culley Named COO of Outerknown, Firewire, and Slater Designs

In his new expanded role as CEO of Outerknown, Firewire Surfboards and Slater Designs, Dylan Slater just made a significant hire that underscores the ambitions of the newly merged company.

In his new, expanded role as CEO of Outerknown, Firewire Surfboards, and Slater Designs, Dylan Slater just made a significant hire that underscores the ambitions of the newly merged company.

Industry veteran Diem Culley, a member of the Rip Curl global executive team who most recently was the group general manager for global retail, is the new chief operating officer for the Outerknown, Firewire, and Slater Designs brands. She officially joined the team on Monday.

Here at SES, we have watched Culley’s rise at several industry companies over the years, including Sole Technology, the La Jolla Group, and Rip Curl. Wherever she goes, she consistently moves up the executive ranks. She also has an incredible personal background  that she previously shared with SES for our Core Career series.

At the La Jolla Group, where Culley worked for six years, she rose to vice president, merchandising operations; at Sole Technology she was promoted several times during her eight year tenure, including to chief operating officer; and at Rip Curl, she held several operational roles in North America during her eight years with the company before being elevated to run retail globally.

Slater worked with Culley during his time leading the Rip Curl North America region so knows Culley’s skill set well.
