Safilo Group, the parent company of Smith, sang Smith’s praises during an earnings presentation this week.
While it doesn’t break out specific revenue numbers for Smith, Safilo used words such as “soaring” and “booming” to describe Smith’s top line performance.
“Smith winter/summer sport products are booming,” the company said in a presentation.
For example, Smith nearly doubled its business in North America in Q2 vs. the same period in 2019. Smith’s DTC e-commerce showing outsized growth and wholesale also posted strong results.
In the first half of this year, Smith’s online DTC sales rose 39% vs. the same period in 2020.
Overall, Safilo’s Q2 sales rose 137% vs. 2020 and 9.4% vs. 2019 in constant currency. The U.S., China, prescription frames and Smith sport products were the biggest factors in that growth, Safilo said.
Safilo owns the Carrera, Polaroid, Smith, Safilo, Blenders and Privé Revaux brands. It also licenses a wide range of brands including BOSS, Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, and Under Armour.
