SIA has announced that the 2021 Snowbound festivals in Denver and Boston will not be happening. Organizers have decided to postpone this year’s in-person events until November 2022 in response to the resurgence of the COVID-19 virus.
A statement on the Snowbound Festival website reads in part: “Over the last year, the Snowbound team has been working to run the festivals as planned and we all believed that we were nearing the end of the pandemic. In reviewing the latest public health guidelines and the most recent health and safety protocols, we felt that even with mask mandates and proof of vaccine or a negative COVID test requirement, we could not guarantee a completely risk-free environment for winter enthusiasts of all ages.”
Snowbound team members will be reaching out to those who have already booked a booth or sponsorship to discuss a refund or transferring the funds toward next year’s events or digital initiatives on Snowboundfest.com. More information is available here. If you have questions, you can e-mail info@snowboundfest.com.
SIA acquired the festivals to connect the winter industry and outdoor enthusiasts. The event also aims to drive new participation. It is expected to return next year.
