The North Face has officially revealed the sport climbing competition uniforms for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, announcing that they will be worn by competitors from the United States, Japan, South Korea, and Austria.Â
The development process for the uniforms included working with climbers Nathaniel Coleman, Melina Costanza, and Nina Williams to ensure the functionality of the pieces.

The aesthetics of the uniforms incorporate elements from the highest summits within each participating country, including Mount Denali, Mount Grossglockner, Mt. Fuji, and Hallasan Volcano. This design conceptualization aligns with the Olympic theme of athletes achieving pinnacle success in their respective sports, the North Face said in a release.
One of the key features of the uniforms is the external taping construction. This method, characterized by visible taping on the outside of garments, deviates from traditional internal taping without negatively impacting the athlete’s performance, the company said. It marks a stylistic nod to The North Face’s climbing heritage as well.
Since the inaugural inclusion of sport climbing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, participation and interest have soared. The sport’s presence continues to grow globally, with an estimated 25 million climbers across 150 countries, according to the Olympics.
Established in 1966, The North Face supports climbers at every level – from Olympic contenders to novices of the sport.Â
The North Face has also created a collection for French athletes as well as for the consumer market, which includes the U.S. and French sport climbing competition kits. These consumer products are scheduled for release on July 1st and will encompass competition shorts, T-shirts, and tank tops, with a price range set between $80-$145.
