Turtle Fur Taps Jim Osgood as New CEO, Adds CFO, Marketing VP

Turtle Fur is getting new leadership.

The Vermont-based outdoor headwear and accessories company announced it made three new hires — CEO Jim Osgood, CFO Matt Glomski, and Vice President of Marketing and E-commerce Erika Canfield.

Osgood comes to the company with 30 years of experience and nearly 15 years as president and CEO of several outdoor companies, including Klean Kanteen and Cascade Designs.

He also serves as board chair for 1% for the Planet, an international organization whose members contribute at least one percent of their annual revenue to environmental causes to protect the environment.

As Turtle Fur’s first CEO, Osgood will be responsible for “driving the strategies and plans for building the core business while expanding into new markets and product categories,” according to the company.

Last June, Richard Sontag, the owner of Turtle Fur, sold a majority stake in the business to Camano Capital, and the company achieved B Corp certification in December 2022.

At the time, Sontag said he wanted to hire a new CEO to help the brand grow beyond headwear.

“I’ve grown up with Turtle Fur,” Osgood said in a release. “It’s a privilege for me to be able to combine my passion for the outdoors with driving the growth and stewarding such an iconic brand with which I have a deep, personal connection.”

Glomski joins the company with more than 15 years of retail and consumer products experience. He obtained his CPA license while working for Ernst & Young in Los Angeles and holds a Master of Accounting from the University of Southern California. He most recently served as CFO at clothing brand Trina Turk.

Canfield has more than 20 years of experience leading global marketing and creative departments in the outdoor and performance sports industries, including leadership roles at both Outdoor Research and Pacific Market International (Stanley Thermos).

Osgood, Glomski and Canfield will bring their years of experience across other companies and industries to Turtle Fur, driving the brand toward robust growth over the next 5 years and beyond, according to the company.
