The Urban Outfitters chain has lost two senior executives in the space of about six weeks.
Urban Outfitters is part of Urban Outfitters Inc., which also operates Free People and Anthropologie.
On Jan. 12, the company announced that Trish Donnelly, CEO of the Urban Outfitters Group, was leaving to pursue a new opportunity. She is the new CEO of PVH Americas and will oversee the Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger brands.
At the time the company announced Donnelly’s departure, Urban Outfitters said Chief Merchandising Officer Gabrielle Conforti was being promoted to President of Urban Outfitters North America.
Then on Feb. 25, activewear brand Outdoor Voices announced Conforti as their new CEO.
The Urban Outfitters chain does still have leadership at the very top: Sheila Harrington, who formerly oversaw the Free People brand, is now also CEO of the Urban Outfitters Group as well. That change was announced when Donnelly moved on.
Urban Outfitters Inc. has an unusual executive leadership structure for a public company.
On the company’s investor relations website, it lists eight executives as senior leaders. Four of those have the last name of Hayne.
CEO, Chairman and Co-Founder Richard Hayne; his wife, Meg, is Co-President and Chief Creative Officer; Richard’s son, Dave Hayne, is Chief Technology Officer and President of subscription business Nuuly; and Azeez, Richard’s nephew, is Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel.
In its filings with the SEC, the company said the relationships have been approved by the board of directors.
As far as the executive departures at the Urban Outfitters Group, company executives may comment on the situation in an earnings call scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
