These individuals follow their own unique paths and live their lives differently, all united by their common passion for the sport.
The premiere of “Convergence” will take place at the US Open of Surfing event in Huntington Beach, CA on August 3. with the film becoming available to view on YouTube on August 4.
The film follows Greyson Fletcher (San Clemente, CA), Conner Coffin (Santa Barbara, CA) and Nate Tyler (Cayucos, CA) as the three surf trip north up Highway 1, where they begin to unpack their lives lived around surfing through candid conversations and personal reflection.
Conner Coffin remarked, “I am humbled to be a part of this story and share stories with Nate and Greyson. We are a community that feeds off one another and that inspires us to new levels and see surfing and life through another lens. The film does an amazing job of highlighting the shared bonds and unique perspectives we each bring to our sport and to each other.”
Greyson Fletcher brings a unique perspective to this collaboration. “There was a time when surfers and skateboarders were in two different worlds. But that seems to be changing more and more, and for me at least, I thrive when I can combine what I learn in a concrete bowl and then head to the water and get barreled in the same day.” Having never known a life without surfing, Greyson’s deep-rooted connection to the sport permeates every aspect of his being. He shares, “Surfing has been my way of life from the very beginning. ‘Convergence’ allowed me to reflect on my upbringing and the immense impact the sport has had on shaping my identity.”
“Surfing is so about being in the moment, so taking that rare breath to look back on my career, family and sport in the context of two guys I really admire is a real honor. The 805 team did a caring job of capturing an authentic, sincere reflection of our journey,” added Nate Tyler.
Dustin Hinz, Chief Marketing Officer of 805 Beer, expresses the significance of this documentary for the brand. “At 805 Beer, we believe in the power of telling compelling stories about people who not only inspire us by their success in sport, but as individuals who bring their humanity, conviction, and love of family to life. Conner, Greyson and Nate embody those values, and we are honored they let us tell their stories through ‘Convergence’ and showcase the unity and inspiration found in the surfing community.”
