Today adidas Skateboarding announces the official release of PUIG, the third Pro signature model from the brand’s premier global team rider, Lucas Puig. Revealed earlier in May, the co-creation by adidas, Palace Skateboards, and Puig celebrates the revered skater’s near decade reign with the three stripes brand.
“The goal for PUIG was to create something functional for skateboarding but also to incorporate Lucas’ personal style and aesthetic into the footwear,” adidas Skateboarding Design Director, Scott Johnston says. “We’re really thankful to have partners that were all open to such an authentic and real-time design process–some days we met in the office or cross continent, and others we simply shared feedback across a group text chat. The work between the brand, Lucas, and Lev Tanju and Gareth Skewis (Palace) has definitely been one of the most creative and honest partnerships to date.”
The PUIG draws inspiration from the worlds of adidas terrace culture and luxury fashion, combining the two to create an elevated design that delivers on character and performance. Signature finishes include rope laces, gold PUIG branding and contrasting waved detailing on the tread and heel. The silhouette arrives in a premium nubuck upper with a high grade EVA midsole for ultimate comfort and cushioning. A molded Adiprene sockliner provides a custom fit, while a transparent rubber outsole and reinforced Adituff toebox offers high-impact absorption and shields against abrasion.
Coinciding with the footwear release is adidas Skateboarding Presents /// PUIG, a coastal clip set against Puig’s hometown of Biarritz, France where his life is equal parts skate, surf, and chill. The short edit highlights Lucas’ effortless yet highly-technical riding style and trick selection, one that continues to evolve and push the boundaries of skateboarding.
The adidas Skateboarding x PUIG silhouette retails for $100 USD and will be available for purchase on Saturday, September 19th via www.adidas.com/skteboarding and select skate retailers worldwide. The Ink/White/Gum Pro Signature model will be followed by additional colorway releases later this year.
