Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) is thrilled to share the event details of its annual Los Angeles Skate the Coast, Presented by Suja Organic. All are welcome to join the hundreds of supporters dressed in pink rolling along the Southern California coast. For its 16th year, all participants on wheels will cruise 15 miles from Santa Monica Pier to Redondo Beach to the background and breeze of the Pacific Ocean during this push for prevention on October 22nd. This special event will be a part of B4BC’s extensive activities during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and promotes its mission of being healthy and getting active and benefits the organization’s yearlong breast cancer awareness, education and survivorship programs.
The weekend starts with a fun community celebration in Venice, CA at Firestone Walker on October 21st from 3 PM-8 PM with live music by Mason Dunn as well as tasty food, drinks, a silent auction, and a huge raffle. Then the main event is on Sunday, October 22nd from 7:30 AM -4 PM with participants enjoying the amazing California coast on the push for prevention. The B4BC Skate the Coast group from last year is pictured above, and more supporters are expected to join the event for 2023.
HOW TO JOIN THE FUN
To register as a participant, supporters must fundraise a minimum of $50. Registration includes an event tee, a goodie bag and raffle tickets, which can be picked up the day before the skate-bike-roll at the Registration Party on October 21st at Firestone Walker Brewery. However, those interested can register up until the morning of! While $50 is the minimum, prizes will be awarded to the top three fundraisers for individuals and teams. For every $100 fundraised, participants will receive an extra ten raffle tickets and supporters who raise over $150 will receive Yeti Drinkware.
October 21st, Registration Party
The weekend of fun and breast cancer prevention kicks off with a registration party on Oct.21st at Firestone Walker Taproom in Venice, from 3 PM – 8 PM. This party is where the fun starts with live music, tasty food and drinks, raffles and auctions to celebrate this special weekend. It’s a time to meet new friends, catch up with old friends, sign waivers and pick up the event tee + goodie bag or those who are interested can register!
October 22nd, Skate-Bike-Roll
The 15-mile skate-bike-roll begins at 7:30 AM on October 22nd, with a shuttle pick up at Redondo Beach Pier. From there, those who are rolling with B4BC will be dropped off at the starting point at Santa Monica Pier and will begin at 9 AM.
There will be four stops along the way: the first at 10 AM at Arbor Venice, the second at 10:30 AM in Marina Del Rey, the third stop & South Bay drop-in point at 11:30 AM at the north end of Dockweiler State Beach and lastly at Noble Park in Hermosa Beach at 12:30 PM. Residents & beachgoers will get to enjoy a wave of pink as participants spread the word of breast cancer awareness along the Los Angeles coastline.
Participants will cross the finish line at 1 PM at Dive N Surf in Redondo Beach, but it’s not over yet. To close out this weekend of movement, community and philanthropy, there will be a Finish Line party at Dive N Surf from 1-4 PM, including live music from Feed the Kitty, yummy food from Traeger BBQ, acai bowls from Sambazon and tasty drinks by Suja Organic, Capacity Brewing, Firestone Walker and Liquid Death.
Interested parties who won’t be able to attend the event in person can participate virtually. All they need to do is register, cruise down a local path or trail and post to social media with the tags @b4bc #skatethecoast. Event T-shirts will be mailed directly to virtual participants, and they will be awarded virtual raffle tickets for every ten dollars raised. In addition, a photo contest winner will be announced on Monday, October 23rd.
