Saba Surf, the surf lifestyle brand dedicated to crafting premium essentials that celebrate and uplift the surf community, has officially launched nationwide through their direct-to-consumer website, sabasurf.com.
Owned and operated in Venice, California, Saba Surf’s hero product is their hand-poured surf wax, made from organic, locally-sourced ingredients to deliver the most reliable grip and traction. In addition to Saba Surf’s core product line, the brand also offers small-batch apparel created in collaboration with local artists in Los Angeles, designed to invoke the spirit of surf culture through unique prints and high-quality materials.
Co-founded by Gal Tshnieder and Laura Quintana, Saba Surf was born from an unbridled appreciation for surf culture; as avid surfers themselves, the Saba Surf co-founders understand the wants and needs of surfers at every skill level, from beginner to professional. Unlike other surf waxes on the market, the brand’s proprietary blend of natural ingredients allows their wax to work in a wide range of temperatures, allowing surfers from coast to coast to utilize the wax in varying weather conditions.
“When I started surfing, I was immediately drawn in by the lifestyle and culture that surround the sport,” said Laura Quintana, Owner and Co-Founder. “Our mission is to help others discover that same passion, by creating high-quality products that make surfers excited to get out in the water every morning.”
After recognizing a white space in the surf wax industry, the Saba Surf team spent months researching ingredients and formulations, working with chemists and surf professionals to expertly craft their one-of-a-kind wax. Saba Surf went live to the masses in 2022, and has quickly established itself as a leader in the surf wax category with its innovative products, unique packaging design, and strong sense of brand community.
In addition to Saba Surf’s product offerings, the brand is also committed to providing resources to the surf community through a variety of digital platforms — including their blog, newsletter, Instagram page, and YouTube channel, where they regularly share industry news, WSL standings, and more. The brand also utilizes these platforms to spotlight local videographers and artists, as well as the stories of prominent individuals in the surf world.
“Our digital channels are just as important to the Saba Surf brand as the products are, as they allow us to engage with our core community in a unique way,” said Gal Tshnieder, Owner and Co-Founder. “Through our digital content, our goal is to shed light on some of the best surfers, artists, and visionaries in this industry, and we’re excited to continue fostering these collaborations.”
Consumers can purchase Saba Surf directly through the brand’s website, and at select retailers across Southern California. Currently, the brand offers two types of wax: Bump Base Coat, and Tacky Top Coat. Both wax formulas sell for $18 for a 6-pack, and $30 for a 12-pack. The wax also comes in a combo pack, for those interested in mixing and matching their wax. Monthly and quarterly subscriptions are also available, which offer a discounted rate when you sign up. Since Saba Surf’s apparel is small-batch, their styles are often rotating and limited-edition — to see what apparel is currently available, and to learn more about the brand as a whole, please visit their website at sabasurf.com or follow along with the brand at @saba_surf on Instagram.
