Earlier this month, Active Ride Shop kicked off a $100,000 back-to-school giveaway giving Southern California high schools the opportunity to win $25,000 each to help support their school athletics programs. It’s the final weekend to vote and competition is tight in each of the four regions. Voting ends when stores close on Monday, Sept. 3 (some stores may extend their hours). Votes will be tallied on Tuesday, Sept. 4 and each school’s administration notified, with a celebratory check presentation scheduled.
Thousands of votes have come in, but it’s not too late to rally the troops and win money for your school’s sports teams! The schools doing the best have utilized social media, sent busloads of students into stores and promoted voting at sporting events like football, soccer and volleyball games.
Current leaders in each region (in alphabetical order) include:
Los Angeles County (Santa Monica, El Segundo, Long Beach, Downey, Burbank):
- Burbank High School
- Downey High School
- Santa Monica High School
Inland Empire (Temecula, Rancho Cucamonga, Corona, Riverside, Redlands, Chino Hills, Chino, Menifee):
- Citrus Valley High School
- Don Lugo High School
- Paloma Valley High School
San Gabriel Valley/Santa Clarita Valley/Ventura County/Kern County (West Covina, San Dimas, Bakersfield, Valencia, Oxnard, Thousand Oaks):
- Bonita High School
- Saugus High School
- West Covina High School
Orange County/North County (Aliso Viejo, Orange, Irvine, Brea, Tustin, Escondido):
- Aliso Niguel High School
- Laguna Hills High School
- San Pasqual High School
Active Ride Shop conceived the giveaway in an effort to give back to the communities in which it serves. School budgets are stretched thin and athletics programs often bear the brunt of funding cuts and are faced with filling the gap with fundraising. The Active 4 Schools campaign aims to help alleviate some of this budget shortfall for four schools.
Active has long been committed to giving back to the communities it serves. Last year alone, the brand raised more than $125,000 for local schools, after school programs, sports teams and various charities through its Perfect Pair sock program.
