Billabong is proud to announce the signing of Brazilian Victor Bernardo to its international surf team.
Bernardo, 18, born in Guarujá, Sao Paulo is one of Brazil’s top rising stars. Victor began surfing at age four at his local beach break, Enseada, going with his whole family on a regular basis to hone his skills. He quickly picked it up and in the process found a true love for the sport. The feeling that the ocean provides has always been Victor’s favorite part of surfing.
Victor began competing at age 6, and has been a consistent finalist ever since. More notably, Victor won the 2013 Oakley Pro Junior taking out current WQS No.1 Ciao Ibelli in the final. Bernardo most recently had a starring role in Filipe Toledo’s highly acclaimed film Spinning at the Speed of Now. On screen he displayed why he’s one of the best aerialists in the world right now, launching backflips and full rotations with ease.
Victor’s goals include surfing good waves and constantly training to improve his surfing to prepare for competition on the World Tour. Once on tour, his ultimate goal is to win a World Title.
“It is such a pleasure to be a part of this team with some of the best surfers in the world from the Juniors to the World Tour,” says Victor. “I am honored to be a part of the same team that Ricardo [dos Santos] and Andy [Irons] were a part of. The two have always inspired me.”
Chris Heffner, Billabong’s Global Team Manager is backing Bernardo’s prospects.
“Victor is one the most exciting young surfers coming out of Brazil right now,” said Heffner. “The future is bright for this kid and we couldn’t be more stoked to have him represent Billabong.”
