In 2014, Daddies Board Shop, a skate, longboard, and snow retailer in Portland, purchased the intellectual property of CCS, one of the largest, most well-known direct marketers of skateboards and skate inspired apparel (that had been struggling in recent years) from Foot Locker. Since then, the CCS/Daddies team has been working to rebuild the iconic CCS brand.

As part of its next phase for revitalizing the brand, CCS is opening a flagship store to be located in Portland, Oregon where CCS and Daddies are jointly operated. The existing Daddies retail shop will be converted into a CCS with all current employees maintaining their positions under the CCS banner.

“In rebuilding CCS, the enthusiasm from our vendors has been unmistakable, energizing, and eye-opening. Many vendors have expressed a strong appetite to help us create a CCS retail effort given our wide reach and 30-plus year history in skate,” said Daron Horwitz, president and CEO of ASW Distribution, which owns and operates both CCS and Daddies Board Shop. “With a CCS store, we will be able to bring in more of the brands that our customers love, widen our selection, and have far more resources to invest in events and programming in the Portland community. At the same time, we will be providing the same exceptional service our Daddies’ customers love because we will have the same people working at the shop.”

Even though the Daddies’ name will no longer be on the retail door, the CCS/Daddies team will continue to energetically support and build the Daddies’ brand online. In addition, Daddies will continue to run and sponsor local and national events.

On Sunday, July 30th, there will be a celebration to mark the grand opening of the CCS Store in Portland. Twenty-two vendors, including Converse, Welcome, Nike, and Adidas, are participating in the event. Some of the best known skaters in the world, including Heath Kirchart, Leo Romero, and Aaron “Jaws” Homoki, will be attending. There will be a skate contest with a $2,000 cash prize along with free food and drink.

“We simply wouldn’t be able to support an amazing event like this in the Portland community if it weren’t for the reach and influence of the CCS brand. And this is just the start,” said Horwitz.
