Exclusive DC x SHUT Skates capsule collection launches today.

Published: October 5, 2015 Press Release

Today, DC announces its partnership with New York City’s first skateboard company, SHUT Skates in launching its exclusive DC x SHUT Skates capsule collection. Proceeds from the DC x SHUT Skates collection will benefit the Harold Hunter Foundation and help at risk, inner city youth kids. DC’s Sales Director and legendary pro skateboarder, Jefferson Pang rode for SHUT Skates with Harold Hunter and was great friends with the late Harold.

“DC’s partnership with SHUT runs much deeper than this collection of co-branded products. Both companies have been backing each other for decades and look to keep Harold Hunter’s legacy alive,” said Megan Easley, director of marketing for DC Shoes.

“This DC x SHUT collaboration is crucial for the state of skate and the entire action sports industry as a whole.  It is projects like this that show not only skate participants but also BMXers, snowboarders, surfers and motocross riders just how unified and multidimensional brands like DC and SHUT can be,” said Rodney Smith, founder and CEO of SHUT.  “It is a big high five that exudes much respect given to each other for both of our brands’ contributions to the continued growth of skateboarding and all action sports alike.”

The Shark is one of SHUT’s most iconic shaped decks, and the DC x SHUT collaboration products are a tribute to the Shark and SHUT’s 1986 origins as NYC’s first skateboard company.

The Lynx Prestige S SHUT shoe features all the styling of the reinterpreted classic Lynx Prestige but includes added details like the classic “SHUT Shark” sublimated graphic on the sockliner, 3M reflective lacing and adds SHUT tags on the heel counter.

DC and SHUT Skates launched its partnership properly last Saturday night with a party at Max Fish on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York.

Harold Hunter Day

The Harold Hunter Day IX event went down last Sunday at L.E.S Skatepark with giveaways, good times and a demo by DC riders: Evan Smith, Wes Kremer, Tristan Funkhouser and Cyril Jackson. The highlight of the celebration was the DC Best Trick Contest on the double set.

The Harold Hunter Foundation was formed in 2007 in honor of Harold’s memory as a skateboard community based organization that provides inner-city youth with valuable life experiences, despite life’s challenges.
